Christopher Morris
As the Vice President of Councils at America's Credit Unions, Christopher Morris is responsible for the Councils’ membership strategy, ensuring growth and retention, while also improving services. This role cultivates relationships with members, as well as with staff across America’s Credit Unions, to execute and advance enterprise goals. Christopher provides strategic direction for Council programs, events, conferences, and products, ensuring alignment and integration with the association’s mission and advocacy efforts. Christopher also provides leadership and direction to the Councils team.
An award-winning speaker, facilitator and trainer, Christopher is well versed in membership, strategy planning, membership, innovation, business and data strategy planning, strategic communications, marketing, social media, fundraising and business development. He has worked for almost two decades in credit unions, at organizations like the National Credit Union Foundation, CUNA, AdvantEdge Analytics (a TruStage company) and CUNA Councils.
Known as a passionate advocate for the credit union difference, Christopher is a Certified Credit Union Financial Counselor (CCUFC), Certified Credit Union Board Member (CCUB) and earned his Credit Union Development Educator (CUDE) designation in 2005. He received both his Caribbean DE (CaribDE) designation and International CUDE (I-CUDE) designation in 2016. Additionally, he helped lead the transformational CUDE Training for hundreds of credit union professionals as a mentor and facilitator.
Christopher loves volunteering with food pantries and other nonprofits. He also enjoys organizing group volunteer opportunities for local credit union professionals to give back.
Christopher earned his BA in teaching high school English from the University of Illinois, Chicago. He is a veteran of the United States Army, including NATO peacekeeping operations in Bosnia-Herzegovina.
As an accomplished writer, artist and musician, Christopher spends a lot of his spare time engaging in creative pursuits. For example, he is the author of the book "We Are All Made of Scars," a memoir highlighting his tumultuous teenage years along with lessons learned, released in 2023. Additionally, he's an avid painter and donates his finished works to credit union fundraising auctions. Christopher was also a music-based educator and known as 1/2 of The Disclosures, “musicians with a mission” that have written songs, created popular videos and performed presentations about the importance of financial literacy and social responsibility.
