America's Credit Unions Councils membership eligibility

Requirements for becoming a CUNA Councils member and joining one or more Councils.

America's Credit Union Councils is dedicated to providing a safe, confidential, sales-pitch-free environment for credit union industry professionals. Membership eligibility requirements are in place to help us maintain these standards.

Who is eligible to join Councils?

To become a Councils member, an individual must be on staff at an America's Credit Union-affiliated natural person credit union, credit union league or organization affiliated with WOCCU. An individual must remain in good standing with all membership dues to continue to qualify for membership. Exceptions may be made to the qualification, subject to Council management’s sole discretion.

How is America's Credit Union affiliation different from Councils membership?

America's Credit Union is a trade association and Councils is a professional society. So America's Credit Union membership is managed at a credit union level, while Councils membership is per individual. Eligible staff at America's Credit Union-affiliated credit unions and organizations can join Councils as individuals.

What if my credit union isn’t an America's Credit Union member?

A credit union’s America's Credit Union membership is a prerequisite for joining Councils. If your credit union isn’t a member, this is your opportunity to lead the initiative for your credit union to join America's Credit Union

How many people from my credit union can join Councils?

There’s no limit! Anyone at an America's Credit Union-affiliate organization who meets the Council qualifications can join. Councils memberships are set up at an individual level so that each person can take the initiative.
