Sue Palen
Sue Palen is the Executive Vice President (EVP) at Mayo Employees Federal Credit Union (MEFCU). She joined MEFCU’s Senior Leadership team in October 2001. Sue’s leadership role extends over all branches, call center, finance/accounting, information technology, plastic card programs, risk & compliance, and facilities. She works closely with the CEO and Board to design and implement strategic initiatives and in the overall administration of the credit union. Sue works hard to ensure high employee engagement and has been instrumental in the development of MEFCU Academy, which features monthly wellness education for all employees.
Prior to joining MEFCU, Sue worked in the public accounting industry for six years. Sue was employed as a Manager for McGladrey & Pullen, LLP where she performed all aspects of accounting and audit work for financial institution clients. Sue holds a Master’s in Business Administration (MBA) and a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Accounting. Sue also maintains active licensure as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA).
Sue was recognized as a Top Woman in Finance in 2019 by Finance & Commerce. She currently volunteers and holds the Treasurer position on the Board of Directors for the Women’s Shelter and Support Center Board. She has also spent many hours volunteering for Rochester Catholic Schools as a member of and Chair of the Finance Committee and served on the finance committee and as a Trustee for her church. Sue participates as a member of the Minnesota Credit Union Network Regulatory Review Committee and served as the Committee Chair for two years. Sue also serves as an Ambassador for the MN Women's Leadership Network, a sister society of the Global Women's Leadership Network.
