About Councils
Councils is a nationwide network connecting you with thousands of your peers and unparalleled resources to grow your career.
No one understands the challenges you face like your credit union peers, which is why Councils are run by and for credit union professionals. Councils provide resources, information, networking and career development to credit union leaders. Through council leadership and volunteer committees, more than 400 credit union professionals define the needs and direct the focus of Councils.
Councils includes more than 8,000 individuals across the United States from credit unions large and small. Geographic and demographic diversity means council members have lots of other people to turn to for ideas, advice and answers. See if you’re eligible to join.
Councils support credit union CEOs and professionals within eight focus areas:
Each Council hosts an annual national conference and provides discipline-specific resources. That means you’ll find a community of professionals with common interests who speak the same lingo and take on similar goals, all ready and willing to share expertise and experiences.
Most Councils members are senior- or mid-management level in their credit unions. Membership is exclusively for paid credit union employees—no vendors, no credit union board members. While those groups play their own important role, Councils are a place where credit union executives can freely and openly share in a tightly focused community of peers.
Councils are led by the Councils Executive Committee. Each individual council also has an executive committee and several committees made up of credit union professionals who care about the success of their peers, their credit unions and the industry as a whole. For Your Staff: Encourage, develop and retain your current and future credit union leaders.
Councils is led by volunteers through committees and executive committees that drive all decisions.
The Councils Executive Committee fosters collaboration across councils and focuses on industry-wide issues.
Executive committees set the agenda for each member-driven, discipline-specific council.
